What are the benefits of waxing?

Waxing is the most effective method of temporary hair removal. Large areas of hair can be removed quickly and remain hair free for several weeks. As waxing removes hair from the root it grows back tapered and feels soft.

Does waxing hurt?

Yes for a brief moment, the more you wax the less it hurts! If you are really worried you could take a pain killer before your treatment. At Serendipity Beauty we ONLY use the best wax money can buy and we use a combination of strip and non strip wax which keeps discomfort to a minimum.

How can I prepare?

Exfoliate the treatment area using a dry body brush or the Japanese wash cloth available at www.abitofrough.com. This ensures dead skin has been removed and allows the hairs to stand up ready for removal. Please arrive freshly showered or alternatively there are wipes provided for you to prepare for your treatment.

How long does the hair need to be before you can wax?

The wax needs 0.5-1cm or quarter of an inch of hair to grip. After your second wax the hairs will be in a similar growth pattern and more consistent results will be achieved. If your hair is longer please do not shave or clipper, we will deal with it prior to your treatment.

Are there any conditions that prevent me being waxed?

I cannot wax if you suffer with any of the following:

Diabetes as they are slow to heal

Epilepcy as they are at risk of fitting

Haemophiliac could bleed to death if the skin was torn

Contagious skin conditions

Hypersensitive skin

Recent scar tissue

Sunburn

If you are using Roaccutane or Steroid creams or medications, the skin will be thin and can tear more easily during waxing.

How long will the results last?

Hair removed by wax will return in 4-6 weeks depending on your hair growth and the area that has been waxed.

How can I avoid ingrowing hairs?

Use a dry brush or Spa Find Heavenly Hydration salt brushing on the area a couple of times a week before you shower. After your shower apply E45 lotion or a skin preparation containing lavender. Alternatively you could use a Japanese wash cloth available at: www.abitofrough.com
